Curated by architect Alessandro Melis and designed with the contribution of ARX studio with Heliopolis 21, the Italian Pavilion at the 2021 Venice Architecture Biennial is a manifesto of the “Resilient Communities”, towards a new model of architecture and sustainability in response to the environmental and climate crisis.
The goal of the project for the 2021 Venice Architecture Biennial is to build a low-impact Italian Pavilion.
Starting from the project created by Milovan Farronato for the 2019 Art Biennial, the Italian Pavilion 2021 has taken shape through an action of subtraction/integration. All the waste material produced has been reused for new purposes. The present installations – as well as the setting – will live a second life.
The Italian Pavilion is a unique opportunity to study the life cycle of a construction born with a resilient approach.
For the same reason, multimedia supports will be used inside the pavilion to explain the selected projects, reducing the canonical expressive and design communication means to the minimum.
