The social housing project in Via della Sala in Florence, in an area of completion between Via Pistoiese and Via Lucchese – in addition to responding to the need for housing – wanted to create moments of individual recognizability, in the architectural uniformity dictated by the need for construction economy. The vector “colour” can help to determine a factor of belonging and recognisability of the individual dwellings. f the “colour” is combined with an architectural element repeated serially, such as the gridded volumes of the terraces, the recognisability takes on communicative immediacy. By alternating colours we obtain a diversity of languages that are only apparently random.
