The relationship with the context of Ancona is very complex and delicate: on one side there are the mountains, whilst on the other the sea, passing through a strongly structured historic centre lived by the citizens. The new project will be inserted near the historic centre on one of the arteries of communication between the city and the sea. The new architectural “graft” aims at redeveloping the area – now degraded – through a contemporary language that is in harmony with the existing building. The material used will be the brick, whose use and aesthetic quality will be reinterpreted, transforming it from a volumic mass into a thin, hanging, semi-transparent covering.
