The project for the new learning centre in the former area Guidotti takes its inspiration from the city context where it is located. It is developed in three buildings, which by differing in height, match the ancient city and its layout, revealing on the outside the end uses of the interiors. The vestibule becomes the excellent spot to locate an architectural “event”, by acting as a passage between the city and the indoor garden inside the learning centre. Furthermore, the vestibule obtains its feature of both closed and open space at the same time due to a roof made of small triangular sails inflated by the wind, which lend brightness and a sense of openness. Through the internal courtyard, the new learning centre will gain a double advantage: on one hand, it will offer a pleasant area with ergonomic path for students’ breaks and stays; on the other hand, it will provide a bioclimatic resource beneficial for the heat balance of the indoor spaces.
